Mental Health Care

Ayurveda addresses mental health through the holistic discipline of Manasa Chikitsa, which emphasizes harmony between mind (Manas), body (Sharira), and soul (Atma). Psychological disorders such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, stress, memory decline, and emotional imbalance are understood as disturbances of Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas along with imbalanced doshas particularly Vata and Pitta.
Treatment focuses on three integrated approaches: Daivavyapashraya (spiritual therapy), Yuktivyapashraya (rational therapy including herbs, diet, and lifestyle), and Satvavajaya Chikitsa (psychological counseling and mind control techniquesInternal medicines like ghee support nervous system balance and cognitive stability. Practices like yoga, pranayama, meditation, nasya, shirodhara, and abhyanga calm the nervous system and promote emotional healing. Personalized diet regimes and daily routines (dinacharya) further stabilize mental functions. Ayurveda treats the root cause of psychological distress, promoting long-term emotional resilience and mental clarity.
